A few weeks ago, we got the chance to go to the Botanical Gardens to see their "winter-garden-a-glow" display throughout the garden. It was SO pretty and so fun! They had beautiful ights, local choir performances, doughnuts and hot chocolate, SANTA!, family photos, and a model train. Jax LOVED the trains! Next to Santa, it was his favorite part. They were super cool! Thanks for treating us, Mom! :-)
Jax was SO confused by Santa! It was his first time meeting the Jolly fellow ...since we were in the middle of moving last year during Christmas. I think to Jax, Santa has always been this toy in his room that sings and wiggles his boots. Having it be a REAL person was hard for Jax to wrap his mind around! As usual, he was very reserved with his smiles. He didn't seem scared, just really bewildered by the whole idea! I think I was more nervous for him than he was :)
The pictures definitely speak for themselves!! Oh MY! The look on his face! ha!!
Wednesday was our church's Christmas dinner. I was in-charge of the decorations. Holy heck, talk about stress! We had NO budget for the decorations so it was super, super hard to come up with something that would look presentable! It didn't turn out perfectly, but it was pretty cute. A BIG thank-you to my Mom. We were up til midnight on Tuesday putting the center pieces together....couldn't have done it without her! Man, am I glad it's done!!! This was a huge stressor for me!
I don't think the pictures do justice. The decorations were MUCH cuter in real life :-)
CENTERPIECES (made 38 of them!)

CENTERPIECES FOR THE FOOD TABLES
Last night, we made gingerbread houses! This was the first time ever that our little family has done this ...seriously, ever...but we're going to make it a tradition for sure! We had SO much fun!! They weren't legit, we used graham crackers, not gingerbread --- maybe we'll try it with real gingerbread next year? We'll see.
I was super stoked because I found a recipe for royal icing that you can EAT! I soooo did not want to use raw eggs in the icing, but it seemed that all of the recipes called for raw eggs. BUT, after MUCH searching, I found one that didn't! It was super yummy and super easy!
I'm suprised we didn't all go into a sugar coma last night from all of the snacking we did while constructing our houses!!! It was sugar over-load, for sure, but isn't that what is supposed to happen this week? What's Christmas without SUGAR? :-) Good thing I have my gestational diabetes test NEXT week! :-)
Shawn's house
My house...am I stinking HUGE or what??!! BLAH!
I was VERY impressed with my balcony! Clever, huh? :-)
Jaxy's house. He INSISTED we take the picture of his house on the floor. Normally, we refrain from putting food on our floor, in case you were wondering :-)
The finished products!! We're officially ready for Christmas!!!

Wow Chelsey can I just say wow! I can't believe you did the decorations by yourself. I thought they looked so great and I wondered who did it. Great job! Cute gingerbread houses.
You and your mom did a great job w/ the ward party deco's I'm sure everyone loved them and that they created a great holiday ambiance.

I think your decorations are adorable for your ward Christmas party. I do have to agree the balcony is awesome. I'm going to have to do that with mine next year.
